Ectopic Pregnancy
Rawan Alsukairi’s presentation focuses on defining ectopic pregnancy, its incidence, incidence of recurrence and risk factors as well as clinical signs and symptoms. She also touches on causes of ectopic pregnancy in IVF patients. The webinar provides tips and tricks to help differentiate between the sonographic appearance of ectopic pregnancy vs corpus luteum cyst, answering questions about CL cysts such as how soon and until how far into a pregnancy they are expected to be seen. Case studies of ectopic and heterotopic pregnancies are included.

Rawan Alsukairi joined the Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography in 2016. The following year, she graduated from the Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, New York with two bachelor’s degrees, one in biomedical science and the other in diagnostic medical sonography. Also in 2017, Rawan obtained her OB/GYN and general abdomen credentials from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography. In 2018, Rawan returned to Saudi Arabia, where she became a licensed sonography specialist with the Saudi Commission for Health Specialty. Rawan worked in the Middle East as a sonographer from 2018 until recent time. In 2021 she published her first textbook in Arabic focused on the role of ultrasound during pregnancy and was volunteering her expertise to the POCUS Certification Academy’s webinar series. At the same time she was promoted to lead the ultrasound training program for a year. Since 2021, she has been an active volunteer and participated as speaker for the SDMS events. Most recently Rawan was selected as one of the alumni speakers for the RIT 2024 Annual Woman’s Leadership Summit themed “owning your voice”.
