Andrew Slessar is a Senior Podiatrist at Peninsula Foot Clinic.
Q: Tell us a little bit about your work and how POCUS relates.
I am a podiatrist endorsed to prescribe scheduled medicines, and I use POCUS every day to assess foot and ankle pathology as well as to perform ultrasound-guided injections. Incorporating POCUS into my clinical practice has taken my care to the next level, allowing for more efficient and accurate assessment and management of patients.
Q: Why did you pursue POCUS certification and how did you find the process to be?
I pursued POCUS certification to gain formal recognition for my ultrasound skills, particularly for assessing the lower limb, foot, and ankle in clinical practice. The certification process was valuable—it strengthened my knowledge and gave me the confidence to immediately integrate these skills into patient care.
