Dr. Samina Masood Ali is an MCPS in radiology and POCUS certified.
Q: Why did you pursue POCUS certification and how did you find the process to be?
I began pursuing POCUS certification to deepen my knowledge and learn how to apply clear, evidence-based practices to critically ill and emergency patients. I learned about the certification process from a friend who had already started it.
Q: Tell us a little bit about your work and how POCUS relates.
While working as a medical officer at my home institution, I started using POCUS in the emergency department, especially for pregnant women with suspected cholelithiasis, IVC compression syndrome, and renal stones. That experience showed me how quickly we can assess and manage patients using POCUS.
Q: Share a positive message or quote with the community,
POCUS offers so many benefits. It allows us to continually update and test our own knowledge, and it helps save patients time and reduce their exposure to potentially harmful radiation from tests like CT scans.
