We offer a wide variety of online assessments to test and validate your proficiency in point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS). Upon successful completion of the applicable assessments, digital badges are awarded for each globally recognized POCUS certificate or certification, providing proof of your professional POCUS skills.

Which certification is right for me?

For healthcare providers new to certification we recommend the POCUS Fundamentals Certificate. Healthcare providers who already hold a POCUS Fundamentals Certificate or equivalent certification are able to pursue any of our Advanced Certifications.

Start with the
POCUS Fundamentals Certificate

New to POCUS? We recommend you start here.

The POCUS Fundamentals Certificate is a prerequisite to being able to take assessments for individual and advanced certifications.

POCUS Fundamentals Certificate

Combining learning modules and assessments along the way, the Fundamentals Certificate functions as an introductory course in POCUS with a focus on the basic physics and instrumentation of ultrasound.

For the Fundamentals Certificate to be awarded, a 2-part assessment must be passed. The first consists of 8 modules of interactive review and knowledge checks. The second is a set of 35 questions in multiple-choice format. Learn more.

The Fundamentals Certificate is a prerequisite for more advanced certifications, although may be waived for clinicians who have passed the Sonography Principles & Instrumentation (SPI) examination with the last 5 years or ARDMS® and APCA™ Certificate holders.

POCUS Clinical Certificates

More than 12 individual clinical certificates are currently offered.

Each Clinical Certificate is comprised of two assessments: a clinical case-based assessment and peer evaluation. Case-based assessments present clinical scenarios with ultrasound media and assessment questions embedded throughout. A peer evaluation is a short questionnaire that is completed by a healthcare provider who is familiar with your ability to obtain clinically-relevant, content-specific POCUS images.
