RVU POCUS Fest 2019
Thanks to all who attended our RVU POCUS Fest and for helping make it a huge success!
POCUS Fest was held on Saturday November 9, 2019 at Rocky Vista University Colorado Campus for Osteopathic Medicine. POCUS Fest was hosted by the POCUS Certification Academy™ and sponsored by Healcerion and 7DImaging.POCUS Fest was a half-day immersive ultrasound experience designed to introduce students and others to using POCUS in their clinical practice. The event started with breakfast and a keynote address given by Dr. Cliff Gronseth of 7DImaging and a welcome message from James Day, RCDS, Clinical Ultrasound Specialist with Inteleos™. After the keynote, 128 medical students from Rocky Vista University and the University of Colorado School of Medicine Anschutz Campus, rotated through focused clinical ultrasound stations. Sessions included focused handheld ultrasound scanning on cardiac, abdominal, deep vein thrombosis (DVT), and Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA).
What the attendees enjoyed most was the individualized learning and the ability to see POCUS in action. POCUS Fest became a conduit and motivator of knowledge. A principal takeaway was the pursuit of continuing education through similar events, professional development opportunities or obtaining certification. Many became attracted to what POCUS certification adds to their credentials of training and knowledge.
“Having an understanding of point-of-care ultrasound is important for my future in the medical field by allowing me to better care for my patients.” ~quote from a student who attended POCUS Fest at Rocky Vista University
