About the POCUS Cardiac Certificate
Point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) technology allows providers to collect additional diagnostic information that improves diagnostic accuracy. Medical providers who frequently experience cardiac cases in their practices are among the members of the community seeking opportunities to learn, grow, and implement their ultrasound skills.
The POCUS Cardiac Certificate is an online certification program designed to provide independent validation of clinical providers proficiency in cardiac POCUS.

What It Includes
This certificate is comprised of two components:
- Clinical Case-Based Assessments designed to simulate a clinical encounter. Question types range from multiple choice to hotspots.
- Peer Evaluations designed to assess your practical abilities in POCUS. Clinicians of your choosing will be sent an anonymous questionnaire to evaluate your POCUS abilities. Assessment results are based on the first two evaluations received.
Eligibility Requirements
The applicant must meet the following requirements:
- Successful completion of the POCUS Fundamentals Certificate.*
- Must be a health care professional in good standing and actively practicing in a relevant clinical area.
- Attestation to the performance of and participation in the interpretation of 30 cardiac POCUS cases within the last two (2) years.
Bedside ultrasound plays a role in triage, diagnosis, and monitoring of [COVID-19] patients while also allowing a decrease in healthcare worker exposure, PPE utilization, and costs.
About the POCUS Fundamentals Certificate
This certificate is designed to provide education on the basic physics and instrumentation of ultrasound when applied in a POCUS clinical evaluation. With learning modules and a final assessment included, this POCUS Fundamentals Certificate is the perfect opportunity for students, residents, and practitioners who desire to advance their everyday use of POCUS technology with their patients.
Successful completion of the POCUS Fundamentals Certificate also includes a digital certification badge and opportunities to achieve advanced certificate opportunities!
*The POCUS Fundamentals Certificate is waived for clinicians who have passed the Sonography Principles & Instrumentation (SPI) examination within the last five (5) years or ARDMS® and APCA™ Certificate holders.
The POCUS Fundamentals Certificate is a great fit for students looking to increase their knowledge of anatomy and improve their clinical acumen.
Drawing Terms and Rules
- Entries must be submitted by 11:59PM ET on February 28, 2023, to be eligible for participation.
- Any clinician, educator, resident, or student with an interest in point-of-care ultrasound and a valid address may participate.
- The three winners will be selected at random.
- Winners will be notified the week of March 6, 2023, via email from the POCUS team. (POCUS@inteleos.org). This email will contain a unique code for the Winner(s) to claim their prize.
- Three winners will receive a complementary POCUS Cardiac Certificate, unless any of the following criteria applies:
- Have not received or completed the POCUS Fundamentals Certificate, or
- Have not passed the Sonography Principles & Instrumentation (SPI) examination within the last five (5) years, or
- Are not ARDMS®️ and APCA™️ Certificate holders.
If the winners do not meet the criteria listed above, they will be awarded the POCUS Fundamentals Certificate in lieu of the POCUS Cardiac Certificate.
