The primary audience for this activity is healthcare providers, many of whom are on the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic, treating patients.
Statement of Need/Program Overview
Being on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic, many healthcare workers bear the burden of a unique stress imposed on them by the very nature of their job: regular, if not daily, exposure to the virus. This activity will offer insight on identifying signs of, managing and reducing stress. It will show the impact work stress has on other areas of life.
After completing this activity, the participant should be better able to:
- Define burnout.
- Identify triggers and signs of burnout.
- Explain the risk associated with burnout.
- Discuss why self-care is vital to mental health.
- Identify self-care strategies which can help manage stress.
- Describe the relationship between stress and burnout.
