POCUS AmbassadorsTM each represent a nation within the international community of ultrasound practitioners. Our dedicated ambassadors believe in the power of point-of-care ultrasound and are leading the mission to advance global healthcare through POCUS training, certification, and meaningful engagement through community-led clinical programming.

The Purpose of the Program

POCUS Ambassadors are leaders in global healthcare. As agents of change, POCUS Ambassadors are advancing healthcare systems in their nations by:

Hastings is a Medical Imaging Technologist with seven years of experience in radiology. Hastings practices at the Kamuzu Central Hospital while pursuing a master’s degree in diagnostic ultrasound at the Ernest Cook Ultrasound Research and Education Institute in Kampala, Uganda.

Karen Villar Zarra, MD, MIAC

Spain

Karen is a USFNA CAP-certified pathologist with over six years of experience in Interventional Pathology procedures. In this time, Karen has expanded her procedural knowledge to include ultrasound-guided fine-needle aspiration, ultrasound-guided core-needle biopsy, and rapid on-site evaluation.

POCUS Ambassador to Sri Lanka

Dhanushka Sanjeewa Sengankutti Arachchige, MD, MBBS

Sri Lanka

Sanjeewa is an emergency medicine (EM) physician in his second year of international rotation in Queensland, Australia. Sanjeewa is skilled in ultrasound-guided procedures such as nerve blocks, emergency intervention, and emergency resuscitation.

Deepa Shivnani, DNB, ENT, MNAMS

India

Deepa is an Otolaryngologist who has completed her fellowship in Pediatric Otolaryngology with advanced training in Pediatric Airway. She is a highly motivated surgeon with over five years of experience in a tertiary care hospital in India.

James Ferrie, B.POD., M.A.POD.A

Australia

James completed post-graduate training in ultrasound and fluoroscopy-guided foot and ankle procedures with the Interventional Orthobiologics Foundation (USA). He is also certified in lower extremity musculoskeletal POCUS and founded his clinic, My Sports Podiatrist, in 2018.

Paraguay

Luis is an experienced internist with specialties in emergency medicine and sports medicine. He currently functions as a medical educator and internal medicine residency lead at Universidad Nacional de Asunción (UNA) School of Medicine while running a private clinical office.

United States of America

Carrie is an Interventional Radiology Physician Assistant with over 20 years of experience in radiology across several fields, including veterinary and interventional. As a sonographer for Duke University Medical Center, she facilitated opportunities to provide global ultrasound education and training as a member of RAD-AID International.

Ghassan Murshid, MD, PMP, CMS

Saudi Arabia

Ghassan is a skilled and dedicated family physician with extensive leadership, academic supervising, and over 10 years of clinical experience. After graduating from the King Abdul-Aziz University College of Medicine in 2010, he joined a four-year joint residency in family medicine. He has since expanded his roles beyond direct patient care.

Chengzhong Peng, MD

China

Chengzhong is a chief physician at the Shanghai Tenth People’s Hospital of Tongji University and the Shanghai Engineering Research Center of Ultrasound Diagnosis and Treatment, with more than 28 years of experience in diagnostic and interventional ultrasound. Additionally, he is a highly motivated and dedicated educator.
